Typhoon and black rainstorm days

The Registry’sinclement weather arrangementsset out what happens:

  • Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above: all Registry offices close.
  • When the signal is lowered or removed two hours or more before the end of office hours, public services resume within two hours. If that happens less than two hours before the end of office hours, the offices stay closed for the day.
  • Black rainstorm warning issued before office hours: all offices close. They reopen on the same two-hour rule once the warning is cancelled or replaced by a lower alert.
  • Black rainstorm warning issued during office hours: the offices stay open.

You may not need to go in person

Company searches and many filings run through the Registry’se-Services Portal. The 13th-floor e-Services Centre offers the same electronic search and filing on site, for people who want staff nearby. The counters on the 14th floor are for documents delivered in hard copy and the fees that go with them. If you are forming a company, the steps are onhow to incorporate a Hong Kong company.

This is not your company’s address

The address the Registry holds for your company is the registered office you file, not Queensway. Putting the Registry’s own address on a form does not make it your company’s address. The difference between a registered office and a mail-forwarding service is onregistered office versus a virtual office. Firms that provide a filed address are listed underregistered office address.

The TCSP licensing office is in Kowloon Bay

Trust and company service provider (TCSP) licensing is handled by the Registry for Trust and Company Service Providers, not at Queensway. The office page puts it at Unit 1208, 12/F, One Kowloon, 1 Wang Yuen Street, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon. Hard-copy applications, notifications, documents and fees are received Monday to Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Licensing enquiries run Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. TheTCSP Registry contact pagehas its own channels.
