Hong Kong registered office address

A registered office address in Hong Kong must be a street address that can receive post. No PO box, and no overseas home. These firms sell that address. A virtual office is how the mail is handled, not a second legal status.

What this is

Government departments serve notices on the registered office. The notes to Form NNC1 will not accept a post office box. Plenty of overseas founders use a virtual office as that address so a home address does not go on the register. If the firm also acts as secretary, check for a TCSP licence.

About this category

What is a registered office address in Hong Kong?

The address on the Companies Registry record. It must be in Hong Kong and cannot be a post office box or a “care of” address. It is not the Companies Registry’s own office at Queensway Government Offices.

Is a virtual office the same as a registered office?

Only if that address is the one filed with the Companies Registry and it can receive post. The virtual-office contract is mail handling. The legal address is whatever you put on the incorporation form.

Can I use my overseas home?

No. The registered office cannot sit outside Hong Kong.

What should a registered address service include?

A street address the Registry will accept, and someone who will take Companies Registry and IRD post. Ask whether you may file that address on Form NNC1 or NR1. A mailbox that refuses official mail is not enough.
